Which is not a correct way to represent the relation "the second number is 1 less than three times the first number"? y = 1 - 3x y = 3x + (-1) y = -1 + 3x y = 3x - 1

I am leaning towards A. It is lined up with what the question asks.....so that is what I would say. You might want a little more clarification first.

OpenStudy (sissyedgar):

but it say NOT A CORRECT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, sorry....lol. Then I would say D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol ^u^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A is lined up correctly, B is too. Remember that since it is added you can reverse the order. C is also correct. So the answer is D.

OpenStudy (sissyedgar):

i agree

ty ^u^ i dont understand those kinda questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw this isnt a test its homework :3 ive done the easy questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so it said 1 less than. That means - 1. Less than means minus. So far you have y = 1 ( or -1) then it says 3 times. THat means 3x. So now you have a 1 - 3x (or -1 + 3x). Make sense?
