Why was Winston Churchill opposed to the appeasement policy of the 1930s? A. He felt it would lead to the Axis domination of Western Europe. B. He thought appeasement was too aggressive. C. There was never such a thing as an "appeasement policy", that was an insulting term invented by Churchill to describe Chamberlain's attempt to cut a deal with Hitler in order to avoid war in Western Europe. It should be remembered that it wasn't Chamberlain's job to protect Eastern Europe, only the British Empire and had Hitler honored the deal the Empire would have been safe. It should also be remembered that many people in the aftermath of WW2 accused Churchill of doing the same thing with the U.S. that Chamberlain did with Germany and that Churchill was called an appeaser also.
