OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The rate of change is also know as the slope. So, which ones have a negative slope? Or, as the x goes up, the y goes down.

OpenStudy (baby_bear69):

I haven't done this in a while, I forget how to find that out

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

y=mx+b is the one where m is the slope. So if what would be in the m slot is negative, it is negative slope.

OpenStudy (baby_bear69):

2 is negative, but how do I figure out if 1 is, the equation trips me up

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Solve for y.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

On the charts, well, it is this basic principal: \(\begin{matrix} x & y\\ 1 & 1\\ 2 & 2\\ 3 & 3 \end{matrix}\) As x goes up, y goes up, so positive. \begin{matrix} x & y\\ 1 & 3\\ 2 & 2\\ 3 & 1 \end{matrix} As x goes up, y goes down, so negative.

OpenStudy (baby_bear69):

I got 1.Negative 2.Negative 3.Positive 4. Positive

OpenStudy (baby_bear69):

Sorry, i'm dumb :p

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Nah. You just are not used to doing this. Cause you did get the answer right in the end.

OpenStudy (baby_bear69):

So I am right? Thank you! Yeah, I am re-doing failed tests that have to be done, and this was back at the beginning of the year..haha

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Fun, fun. Well, always good to review. Math builds up so you need to do it over time, not try and cram it. Then it makes more sense.

OpenStudy (baby_bear69):

Yeah! (: Thanks again!!
