Please help. The solution to which inequality is shown? Image here: http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1412500_1413000/1412583/1/dc6b145dc84537ee0bec246d4cdeb4bb57fd98a1/MS_PA_130528_200025.jpg A. y + 3 ≥ –1 B. y + 3 > –1 C. y + 3 ≤ –1 D. y + 3 < –1

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

An open circle on a inequality line means that it's either less than, or greater than. (not equal to) On the line, it's clearly y<-4 Since I said that the answer cannot include <= or >=, it's definitely not A or C. Your decision between B and D should be pretty simple. It is less than, or greater than?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Less than.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It got me confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in place of -4, it's actually negative 1 in the answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

apparently it didn't pick it up

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

I don't understand. Y+3<-1 y<-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Neither do I

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all the answers have the same thing, which is the answers equaling -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If that makes sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not equal signs, inequality signs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know, <, >, and \[\le, \ge.\]

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

They all equal -4, but only one of them have the correct sign.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh one more thing, A. has an \[\ge \] inequality sign, and C. has an \[\le \] inequality sign.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know why it doesn't show up...but that's it.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

It DOES show up. D is still the right answer, lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, just to make sure, \[D. y + 3 < -1\] is the answer, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D. is not part of the problem, by the way LOL.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

D as in the answer choice d..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

I meant when I said D, I'm referring to answer choice D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. I know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about it, though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

IT IS THE CORRECT ANSWER.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Okay, calm down, I get it now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

._.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Someone's testy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Closing the question now...

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Sorry, but if you look up the thread you were asking the same question over and over again, lol
