OpenStudy (tjbrew):

A run-on is a sentence in which two or more independent clauses (i.e., complete sentences) are joined without appropriate punctuation or conjunction.

OpenStudy (tjbrew):

Run on sentences occur when two or more independent clauses are joined without using a coordinating conjunction (i.e for and nor but or yet or so) or correct punctuation (i.e semicolons dashes or periods)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (tjbrew):

So for example...I have soccer practice today I don't have any cleats. Should be....I have soccer practice today, but I don't have any cleats.

OpenStudy (tjbrew):

in the fist sentence...I have two independent clauses without a comma and a coordinating conjunction, so it was a run-on sentence. I fixed it when i added the comma after the first sentence and added the coordinating conjunction But.
