What does it mean to find the requested function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi, do you have an example question?

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

Hello! :) @mukushla It says For the given functions f and g, find the requested function and state it's domain. So its what x= right?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

No, not right. As in, there is not enough information to do anything. We need a better question.

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

I'm not sure what you mean @tkhunny you want the question?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

The "given functions, f & g" don't appear to be given, anywhere. We'll need that information.

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

f(x)= sqrt x; g(x)=2x-7

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

There's a start. Now the rest of the question, please? What new function is requested? f + g f / g f(g(x)) We need a clue and then we need YOUR work shown.

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

Oh it says find f/g. I already got the answer x=7/2 and the domain {0,7/2) U (7/2, \[\infty \])

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

That is fine. Are you wondering how to get that answer? See, it helps quite a bit to get the WHOLE problem statement up front.

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

My bad, I didn't want to be one of those people who only ask for the answer!

OpenStudy (melissa_something):

I'm wondering what the requested function is.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I do appreciate your efforts, but we do need the entire question. The requested function is 'f/g'.
