Lou Gehrig disease is VERY rare. It is: A nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. People may experience: Muscular: muscle quiver, problems with coordination, loss of muscle, stiff muscles, muscle weakness, muscle spasms, or overactive reflexes Speech: vocal cord spasm or impaired voice Respiratory: shortness of breath on lying down or shortness of breath Also common: severe constipation, difficulty raising the foot, tremor, lack of restraint, drooling, paralysis, cramping, apathy, fatigue, unintentional weight loss, or difficulty swallowing
