Like otters, minks are animals that live in the wilderness near the water. They are dark-colored and meat-eating animals. Minks are mainly nocturnal, or active at night, and do not hibernate during the winter. There are two main types of minks: American mink and European mink. American minks can be found in Canada and in the U.S. They sometimes have a white patch on the nose, but most often, they have glossy black fur. European minks can be in some parts of Europe. They are an endangered species due to the American minks, who take their food and their land. These minks always have a white patch on their nose. Both minks are considered valuable for their furs, which are made into clothing. The author organizes this passage by defining the term nocturnal and makes a list of its hibernation habits. showing the effect of having a white patch on a mink's nose. comparing the popularity of American minks to European minks. classifying the different types of minks found in the wilderness.

What do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think about it: is that the entire passage, or only the first paragraph of the passage?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not quite

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It can't be B either; the nose thing is simply a comparison of how the species are similar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D would be the best answer. It's not comparing the popularity of them, but merely classifying two types of minks and facts about them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup, sounds good
