Explain why this is the correct answer Suppose U={1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8} is the universal set, and P={1,3,5,7} What is P1 Correct answer is: {2,4,6,8} why is it correct

OpenStudy (phi):

do you mean what is \( P^{-1} \) ? It looks like "P1" is not P which by definition is U - P (i.e. start with U and take out anything that is in P, what's left over is not P)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (phi):

I think yo mean P ' , the little apostrophe mark means "complement of P" and that means start with U and take out anything that is in P, what's left over is the "complement of P" also called "not P"
