The cube has a surface area of 24 cm2. What would the surface area of the prism be if each dimension were quadrupled? Base:2 Width:2 Height:2

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

so what have you done so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiplied 2x2x2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But that wont work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if those are the dimensions of the cube (the twos) then you quadruple them meaning you multiply each one of them by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then find the surface area of that

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, so what does the word quadrupled mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I would do 8x8x8?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ah ah, yes, multiply by four, sorry missed that. ok, so do that first

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

no, we want the surface area

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

that would be the volume

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you do 8*8*6

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

so a picture helps here|dw:1427320413491:dw|
