Which phrase reveals to readers that Anne can take a critical tone in her diary? A. her referring to her sad father as "poor soul" B. her referring to Miep as a "pack mule" because she brings them supplies C. her describing the Annexe as "a paradise" compared to places others must hide D. her describing Mr. Dussel as speaking in a "hoity-toity manner"
hey @harley_may can you help me again
i think that it might be C
Sorry I had to do something, one second I'm typing out my explanation
okay
Critical means "expressing adverse or disapproving comments or judgments." In other words, criticizing, like a professional movie or video game critic would say both good and bad things about the thing they're writing about. Tone is basically the author's (in this case, Anne's) attitude towards what they're writing about. I would not say it is A, because she is not judging her dad for being sad. 'Poor soul' is sympathetic, not critical. The rest is a little tricky ... What do you think? Why would you choose C over B and D?
because she said in the book that the annex must be a paradise compared to where other jews were hiding
@harley_may
That makes a lot of sense, I think it makes the most sense out of all of the answer. I'd say go with that one !
okay thanks
