OpenStudy (korosh23):

What are the two trends you can see from atomic and ionic radii? 1) 2)

OpenStudy (korosh23):

@matt101 I really need your help.

OpenStudy (matt101):

Do you have any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Across the period, the atomic radii decreases from left to right Across the period, the ionic radii decrease from Group 1A to Group 4A because the number of electrons lost increases and the attraction of nucleus to outermost electrons or nuclear effective charge increases, giving them a smaller radii. From Group 5A to Group 7A decreases, but Group 5 have the largest atomic radii because they ionize by absorbing 3 electron and going towards group 7, the number of electrons gained reduce, increasing the effective nuclear charge.
