OpenStudy (matlee):

If I dilute 250 mL of 0.10 M lithium acetate solution to a volume of 750 mL, what will the concentration of this solution be? (250 ml)(0.10 M) = (750 ml)(Mf); Mf = 0.033 M In this equation i used the formula you gave me but how does he get 0.033 i have gotten 0.025

OpenStudy (matlee):

Btw this is the answer (250 ml)(0.10 M) = (750 ml)(Mf); Mf = 0.033 M

OpenStudy (matlee):

Hello!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Hi, so notice that the \(final\) volume was 750 mL this is different from the last question where you were told that you \(added\) 560 mL \(to\) 340 mL . So this question should look like (250 ml)(0.10 M) = (750 ml)(Mf) not (250 ml)(0.10 M) = (750 +250 ml)(Mf)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i know that's what you wrote above, but you computed it as (250 ml)(0.10 M) = (750 +250 ml)(Mf)

OpenStudy (matlee):

Yeah thats what i did

OpenStudy (matlee):

Ok so it should be just as the questions says when it says to dilute

OpenStudy (matlee):

like in order?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

well they're both dilutions. in the previous one, they told you how much water you added to dilute it in this one, you were told the actual final volume do you see how that's different?

OpenStudy (matlee):

Yes!

OpenStudy (matlee):

Yes all my questions are different like that

OpenStudy (matlee):

so this one would be 25=750?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

it would be (250 ml)(0.10 M) = (750 ml)(Mf)

OpenStudy (matlee):

Thank you!

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no problem!
