I have three questions that apply to the same figure... A(3,0) B(1,-2) C(3,-5) D(7,-1) a. reflection across the line x=-4 b. translation (x,y)--> (x-6, y+8) c. reflection across the line y=x

You can do this either graphically or algebraically. I'm going to do it algebraically, but maybe someone else can draw it out for you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Algebraically will be best anyway I'd think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No actually, that made a lot of sense.

Awesome :) Okay next part, literally just plug in your x and y values to the translation rule they gave you. A (3-6, 0+8) -> A (-3, 8) B (1-6, -2+8) -> (-5, 2) C (3-6, -5+8) -> (-3, 3) D (7-6, -1+8) -> (1, 7)

I ended up getting that one right then, yay!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Very cool! Ok next one I always tend to overthink, but don't. y=x and x=y. Literally just flip flop the x and y coordinates. A' (0,3) B' (-2,1) C' (-5,3) D' (-1, 7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait are you serious?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks man! Awesome Two of the three I was just checking my answers on but thanks anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup. Double check any graph you like. It's so much simpler than you would think. And no problem!!
