What is the masculine form of tornado?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it el tornado?

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

First of all I'm pretty sure there is no Male or Female Tornado >.< Second, El Tornado in English is The Tornado ( El is The)

OpenStudy (elisaneedshelp):

El tornado is the only way to say it. :) its masculine only

OpenStudy (elisaneedshelp):

and just like Lamar said, El is The in english. I dont wanna talk about feminine words and confuse you, so I'm just going to say that El tornado is the only way to say it and its a masculine word in spanish so if I remember correctly thats why you put "El" infront of "tornado" because it is masculine.

Hello there! If I may join in, I agree with @KendrickLamar2014 and @ElisaNeedsHelp ! @geekgirl1000 , I am wondering if your question was about the article you need for *tornado*...? If so, you were right! It's *el tornado* indeed :) === So, *tornado* is (always) a masculine word, and it's singular (you're referring to only one tornado) --> therefore you need a singular masculine article before *tornado*: *el tornado* (= "the tornado") === Note: *un tornado* is also possible, but this means "a/one tornado". I hope this helps! Blessings
