hmm dunno offhand

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Okay

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Hmm, while I'm not sure completely if you are correct...I barely remember series from calc I (too long ago) if you look at each choice A) is always multiplied by √3 B) is always multiplied by √2 C) is always multiplied by √2 / 2 so this would eventually go to 0 D) is always multiplied by -√2 so this one alternates So it's definitely Between C or D, just don't remember which >.< sorry if that doesn't help

Thanks. My book says that if it has a limit, it converges. So I'm thinking C.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

C is correct, "The Alternating Series Test. If a(k)>a(k+1)>0 for sufficiently large k, and the limit of a(n) is 0, then the alternating series (-1)^n a(n) converges. Put more simply, if you have an alternating series, a series where each term changes sign. Then eliminate the alternating part of the function and find the limit of what's left, if the limit exists then the series converges." so yes if you get rid of the "negative" terms...the limit go to infinity so it diverges....C it is :D
