Combine the following expressions. https://clackamasweb.owschools.com/media/g_ima01_2014/2/2a89.gif 5x - 3 sqrt y + 1 5x + 3 sqrt y + 1

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Are those the 2 choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Okay so \[\large 8x + \sqrt{1} - \sqrt{9y} - \sqrt{9x^2}\] Assume 'x' is real here... what do we know? we know that the square root of 1 = 1... and we know the square root of 9 = 3...so we can simplify a little bit so far \[\large 8x + 1 - 3\sqrt{y} - 3\sqrt{x^2}\] what can we do next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 5x - 3 sqrt y + 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks:)))

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

No problem! :)
