Is an electromagnet including the coil?
@TuringTest
@KyanTheDoodle
if you wrap an iron bar with coils of wire, then connect the ends of the wire to a battery or another source of electricity, you get an electromagnet. Is the electromagnet just the iron bar or also the coil?

If you have an object that creates a magnetic field when you run a current through it, that's an electromagnet. You could have an iron-core solenoid, which is what you've described, or you could have one without the iron, or you could have a different wire arrangement altogether. The main point is that the magnetic field is turned on or off by the application of an electrical current.
Does it include the coils?
@amistre64 Can you help me? :-)
do the coils play an integral part in the function of the 'electro'-magneticism?
will it work without the coil?
yes to the first one, no to the 2nd
You're a genius! :)
