OpenStudy (perl):

Suggestion: separate openstudy into highschool openstudy, and college openstudy. This would attract more college kids and graduate students. So when you go to the landing page, you click on either 'college openstudy' or 'high school openstudy' http://prntscr.com/6wisri

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I actually agree with this, this might attract those that are hesitant because they don't know what age group this site is targeted for.

OpenStudy (perl):

college openstudy?

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Like www.collegeopenstudy.com? xD

OpenStudy (perl):

this is what i envision http://prntscr.com/6wihhu

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I agree. @perl A lot of college people think this is a site for kids.

OpenStudy (rebeka):

this is a great idea

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @EclipsedStar Like www.collegeopenstudy.com? xD \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) I think www.openstudy.com/college would work.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

True, so is this going to be a separate section altogether?

OpenStudy (perl):

right

OpenStudy (perl):

you can click on both if you like, have them open in separate tabs

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

I see :)

OpenStudy (perl):

but you have the option of only sitting in 'college openstudy'

OpenStudy (perl):

but this could create a problem, if students in high school math post in college openstudy ...

OpenStudy (perl):

it could cause some conflict , defining what is high school math and college math

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

This is great because some users only focus on high school help and I feel a little uncomfortable when I stumble into a post that I can't help with, and the user think I just leave because I don't want to help.

OpenStudy (perl):

right

OpenStudy (perl):

This is not easy to implement though. i guess a workaround has been creating new topics, like calculus, linear algebra.

OpenStudy (perl):

but this idea has got potential.

OpenStudy (perl):

You think having separate websites is the best way to go? but there should be a redirect from the landing page.

OpenStudy (perl):

This entails that you would have separate websites. But it could be either a whole new website or an extension of openstudy. example: openstudy.com/study/college vs. collegeopenstudy/com

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

We have sections such as calculus and such for a reason. This idea seems a bit condescending to me.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Well, first impressions mean a lot. My first impression was the OpenStudy homepage, and I wasn't sure if they had a Photography question. When I first browsed the site as a guest, I had no idea what sub-topics were, and therefore I didn't know if this site could help with certain topics.

OpenStudy (perl):

Why not can click on calculus from the landing page?

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Like a drop-down menu? :)

OpenStudy (perl):

http://prntscr.com/6wiqpi

OpenStudy (perl):

just an example

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Sorry perl, I don't really see a point to it, you can just click continue and come to OS and do all that. But, keep coming up with ideas, you're very good at them!

OpenStudy (perl):

i can add other topics

OpenStudy (perl):

the magic of prntscr, one moment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That seems like a GREAT idea!!

OpenStudy (perl):

http://prntscr.com/6wisri

OpenStudy (kidrah69):

Good job perl i like it :)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The use of OpenStudy by high schol students was originally not even going to be allowed. They changed the plan to allow for intermixed because they wanted college students to be able to tutor high school students. I am not sure if this is going to change. What would have been nic is a lot more sub topics and less main topics. Then the advanced topics could have sub topics to make it more clear where to post.

OpenStudy (perl):

yes, the navigation of topics could be improved .
