Billy is analyzing a circle, y2 + x2 = 81, and a linear function g(x). Will they intersect?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will fan and medal, I just need my work checked

OpenStudy (cp9454):

what about g(x), no information is given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im posting the image now for it :)

So, I chose "D" becuase if you solve and find the equation of g(x) you can graph it on Geogbra with the circle and see if it intersects at any lines on the graph. This was my graph

OpenStudy (cp9454):

but line is intersecting circle at y=-9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm, I don't see it on my screen

OpenStudy (cp9454):

in ur graph also line is intersecting the circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It isn't touching the line but its close to it, do you mean the lining of the circle? Does that count? I thought it was just the lines crossing the graph

OpenStudy (cp9454):

yes it count, so answer is known to u or not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see what you are saying, but they inteersect a both negative AND positive y coordinates and thats not an option

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are the answer choices. Yes, at positive x coordinates Yes, at negative y coordinates Yes, at negative and positive x coordinates No, they will not intersect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Normally I would chose B). but since it intersects at both negative and positive y coordinates what would be the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@cp9454

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@radar

OpenStudy (cp9454):

look at ur question , where info about x and g(x) is given. one way of solving such questgion is satisfying the coordinates.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need to know what option to chose... I already did the work myself. I just don't get if they are touching both positive and negative coordinates, what option I will chose.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it B?
