can someone explain how to get the answer please?
I DO NOT WANT THE ANSWER GIVEN TO ME PLEASE!! I WANT AN EXPLANATION Brendan selected 10 sixth-year students in his school at random and asked each person how many years the person had lived at his or her current address. He recorded the results. 3, 8, 12, 9, 12, 8, 12, 4, 6, 12 What is the estimated mean number of years that a sixth-year student had lived at his or her current address?
To find the mean you add up all the numbers given by the students and then divide by the amount of numbers given..
do i just do mean, because the end part kinda confused me
I believe so..
i know how to do mean, but do i need to do anything more. the end part,"What is the estimated mean number of years that a sixth-year student had lived at his or her current address?" Kinda confused me because of the sixth year part. i know in the question theysay and use that but are they also referring to the number six i the data set?
*in
Those datas come from sixth year students, so "sixth year" was just refer to students.
No I do think they are just referring to the fact that the students are sixth-year students, they are most likely just looking for the mean. I hope I've helped in some way :)
Thanks guys, kinda got confuzzled a bit! i thought cuz of the sixth-year meaning that theyve lived in the place for six years (six in the data set) but then also they call them six-year students in the actual question. Thanks again!
