it's his makes most sense
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay, so saying Curtis stood between Mark and "he" or "his" won't make sense.

"Curtis stood between I."
"Curtis stood between me."
"Curtis stood between him."
Taking Mark out of the context, you're left with these possibilities. Am I making sense?

It is? I thought it would have been "him", due to how saying "Curtis stood between Mark and I" would be shortened to "Curtis stood between I" if you took out "and Mark".
OpenStudy (anonymous):
:) ~_~

You're welcome. I hope I didn't confuse you too much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):
@joe.hardy321 Yes, it's in the closed section.
@Here_to_Help15 I was trying to figure if it was between him or I; ultimately I chose "him".
OpenStudy (here_to_help15):
Why "him" would had made no sense though
OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
@Here_to_Help15 Cover up the "Mark and" in the sentence. You're left with "Curtis stood between" and the choices. If you choose "I", then that means "Curtis stood between Mark and I". However, if this is true (that Curtis is standing between Mark and the speaker), technically, the "I" should be changed to "me". That's why I thought "him" made more sense as an answer.
I can be a bit of a grammar freak at times, but I'm definitely not perfect. Anyhow, I'll be going and I hope I'm not agitating anyone!
