OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is A or D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the middle Ages, Christian pilgrims liked to travel to visit the holy land, which was in Muslim hands at the time. For quite a while the pilgrims were well tolerated and everything was fine, until one of the Muslim leaders expelled them as the number of pilgrims started to increase. This caused a problem in the Christian nations of Europe, who then decided to invade and conquer the holy land so as to control it directy.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

The Crusades had nothing to do with Jews, or a Jewish kingdom, so not A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it is D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd have to say B.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

They are looking for 2 answer on this kind of question. The Pope and the Seljuk Turks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No there are only one answer to this question.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

Then B. I'm rereading D. It's not true. Sorry, temporary insanity. B is your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As far as I knew, somebody who thought of Holy Land as theirs either threatened to or did attack Byzantine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But yes, judging by the information @Cblount gave, B sounds correct.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

@claireluna The Byzantines were Christian. They didn't accept the Bishop of Rome as the ultimate authority. But they did ask the Pope to help organize a military campaign against the Muslim occupiers of the Holy Land.
