Im not sure what it is called, but some animals can make more babies than it can take care of, so it protects a few of them because it cant protect all. It rather have a few babies then none, so some of them have to die.

yes bugs are one of the common animals that are preserved in amber, but I think(my opinion I am not a Mr.Know it All) the most common one is a moth...
