Will medal and fan (: What is the slope-intercept form of the function that contains the point (1, –2) and has a slope of –3? y=___x+___ please help c:

OpenStudy (timbo5lice):

hi ill be helping you today(: welcome to open study! what do think it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@timbo5lice i dont think thats right D:

OpenStudy (timbo5lice):

hold up

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

in general \[y=mx+b\] is the slope intercept form of any line

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

\[y=-3x+b\] now we need to look for b given the the line passes through (1,-2)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

so \[-2=-3(1)+b\] \[-2+3=b \Longrightarrow b=1\]

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

therfore \[y=-3x+1\] is the line you are looking for

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou so much dude ily XD

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

no problem
