Please help! Just give me a few points.. I'll explain the rest. How did the Vietnam War impact America at home and abroad?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, let's start with domestic issues. Americans began to be frustrated with their government during the Vietnam War. Media televised the war, including the atrocities that took place. The government tried to tell the people that they were winning, but the media disagreed and so people grew frustrated. Famous examples include draft dodgers, and several photographs that are still famous because of the shock that they evoked. This led to a change in how Americans viewed themselves in the world stage. Not to mention that veterans were less cared for, and even ostracized upon coming home due to public perception of the war. Overall, Americans grew weary of their country because of the Vietnam War. As with foreign issues, there are a few to name. Nixon's vietnamization was ultimately a failure, as Northern Vietnam eventually annexed the south. After America's actions in Vietnam, fewer countries were willing to trust it as the "Guardian of Freedom" idea that it was trying to portray. This ofcourse leads to awkward diplomatic dealings with other countries, and is a hard thing to shake off one's image.
