im working on a review for a test and i need someone to work the problem out and explain it to me A(n) = -2 ● 3^n – 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the black dot implies multiplication am I right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the A in this simply implies to be a function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

usual cases are, when they say f(x) where x could be just about anything

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is -2,-18,-486

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need someone to explain how that answer was gotten

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this requires log actually

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Kainui

OpenStudy (kainui):

Hmmm well it doesn't appear to be a question, just a function so I don't really know what to say.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it's like -2 ● 3^n – 1 = -18 I think we can solve for n in that case

OpenStudy (dan815):

please but brackets in proper places for htis stuff

OpenStudy (dan815):

it is -2*3^(n-1) according to your solution

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes - the answers you gave are the values of the function A for n =1 , 3 and 5
