So what you do here is subtract the two equations. When you do this, you get 3y=-6. (the 2's cancel out because you reverse one of the signs). Now just divide and you get y=-2. Now substitute -2 in for y in the first equation. You end up getting x=-2. Now subsitute x=-2 and y=-2 in for y and x in both equations. If the equations end up like this, a=a, then you got yourself the answer! Since they do, wala! (-2, -2) is your answer!
