Can someone please help explain this to me I don't want to fail :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Choose the correct slope of the line that passes through the points (1, -3) and (3, -5).

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

hey i am exo and im here to help you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sweet thanks

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

Do you know the slope formula? y=mx+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

thats not good you should know it in order to solve your problem. Well in this formula mx is the slope and b is the y- intercept . Using those coordinates plug them in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to find slope or y intercept

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

I understand . to find the slope you do rise/run or change in y over change in x and the y-intercept is just the y axis on the coordinate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im still confused about slope

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

ok (1,-3) and (3,-5) you have to find the rise over run by subtracting Y2-Y1 over X2-X1 and that equals your slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so 1 and 3 are y2 and y1?

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

3 is y intercept # 2 and 1 is y- intercept #1

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

oh wait no thats x1 and x2 my bad

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

the y-coordinate is on the right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so -3 and -5 are y1 and y2?

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

-5 is y intercept # 2 and -3 is y #1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 1 and 3 are x1 and x2?

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

yep show me your answer when youre done :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i solve -3-5/13?

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

what howd u get that o.e ok it should look like this |dw:1431359399086:dw|
