so f(3) = f(2) + f(1) or f(3) = 2 + 3 it looks a lot like part of the fibonacci number sequence f(4) = f(3) + f(2) f(5) = f(4) + f(3) just keep the pattern going for the number of terms you need... using the previous answers

nope... f(3) = f(2) + f(1) = 3 + 2 so the 3rd term is 5
