What is a chlorine anomaly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in detail please and also maybe and example? @Hoslos

OpenStudy (vianne):

We expect fresh water lakes to contain no more chloride ion than background groundwater does. However, because of road salting, chloride ions can be washed along with surface water into lakes, leading to the 'chloride anomaly'- that is more chloride ion in a lake than should be there without road salting. This is mostly seen where lakes are lower than and close to roads that are deiced in winter with rock salt. Source, answers.yahoo.com :D
