If anyone is taking the AP Statistics exam on Wednesday and wants to prepare with me, just come by! Got the Princeton review with me!!!!!
Do you need help with a certain statistics concept?
something that always troubles me is when do we use standard deviation or standard error?
The standard error is essentially the same thing as the standard deviation; the only difference is that the standard error is only used for samples. If the problem clearly defines or hints that the data is a sample, then we would use standard error. For the entire population, we would simply use standard deviation...
if seen questions such as: a sample of 1000 was taken and the proportion 423 people liked cheese. whats the probability that less then half the population likes cheese?
proportion was a mid thought, i was going for 423/1000 was the proportion, but changed my mind halfway thry typing it :)
maybe a mutliplication or addition rule? If you are familiar with such rules???
those dont apply here
oh ok
to find the test statistic we would either do something like this \[z=\frac{.5-423/1000}{\sqrt{\frac{423(1000-423)}{1000^3}}}\]
but it always gives me room to pause ...
why do you pause?
lack of practice and a shaky understanding of when to do what.
ok, you do seem to understand it better than me; as I am going to read the entire book tonight and then do practice tests tomorrow in preperation for wednesday #cramminglol
:) good luck with it
a practice site i like is interactmath.com. its free and simple, just enter and pick a textbook to practice tons of problems out of.
ok cool thanks!
If anyone has any questions, just ask!
i thought stat is soooooo hard
nope! Just got to get the right materials and read it lol, do you have any specific questions?
anyways gO_Od luck!!! AP & STAT :o
nope sorry i don't like probability q ;3 sorry
thanks! @Nnesha
