The table below shows the velocity y, in miles per minute, of a toy car at different times x, in minutes: Time (x) (minutes) 10 20 30 40 Velocity (y) (miles) 0.2 0.8 0.1 0.4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part A: What is the most likely value of the correlation coefficient of the data in the table? Based on the correlation coefficient, describe the relationship between time and velocity of the toy car. (4 points) [Choose the value of correlation coefficient from -1, 1, -0.04, 0.99] Part B: What is the value of the slope of the graph of velocity versus time between 10 minutes and 20 minutes, and what does the slope represent? (3 points) Part C: Does the data in the table represent correlation or causation? Explain your answer. (3 points)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part A: The most likely value of the correlation coefficient of the data is -0.04. And there is no relationship between the velocity and time. Part B: so i calculated the slope between 10 and 20 minutes which is .06 when i used the formula y2-y1/x2-x1 which is .6/10 so the slope turns out to be .06 in between 10 and 20 minutes. the slope indicates that the velocity is increasing at a relatively slow rate from 10 mins to 20 mins. Part C: zero correlation

is this correct?

@Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

for part A have you applied the right formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the correlation coefficent one

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

ok! Then your answer are right, since a correlation coefficient which is far from 1, means that there is no causality relationship

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

answers*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but wait did you check it for me like the actual numbers?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

please wait...I'm checking your value...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you get them yet?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

please wait, I redo my computations

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I got this value: r=-0.0417

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay same thats what i got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you just leave me just to help someopne else ? @Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dude chill i needed her/him to check my answers and now she can help you again

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

you are right, please you have to understand me, I receive several requests for help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um no first i wasnt even talkign to you so please mind your buisness @knightmare6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welll one you came onto my question so uhh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you i came onto your question to say some to @Michele_Laino and second again i wasnt talking to you and third again i wasnt talking to you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@knightmare6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you make no since leave please
