Is it possible if I ask some questions of science here in prep for a test tomorrow? I really need help. Medals will be given out.
What kind of science?
Like Body Works (7th grade)
Yeah, hit me. I think I know that stuff well. Could you help me with a geometry question afterwards?
I'll try because I have math test tomorrow as well.
Okay. First question, "The shape of an organ is determined by what it does, give one example."
I'm thinking, give me a second.
Okay
Maybe the stomach? Designed to have something go into it through the top, and then it goes down into the intestines.
Well I wrote that the small intestines' surface area is pretty large so it enables a faster speed for nutrient absorption.
Explain how the heart acts as an organ and a muscle.
That's a tough one.
Let's brainstorm for the answer.
An organ is something that performs a vital function in the body, and is comprised of many tissues, correct?
Yes
And it is a muscle, in the fact that it is expanding and contracting, perhaps?
So I wrote for that: deliver nutrients to the body and returning waste for removal
And yes muscles contract and expand due to the need for oxygen
Would that be a sufficient answer, then?
The heart performs a vital bodily function necessary for life, and expands and contracts like a muscle would.
Yeah thanks
Anything else?
Yes
Go for it.
After nutrients are absorbed through the small intestines, they are needed by every single cell, so how are they transported to through the body?
Well, how do nutrients typically get delivered to cells?
That one, I am not too sure, but I know that the circulatory system transports nutrients throughout the body.
Don't quote me on this. But I think that the intestines have capillaries with cells going through, and on the walls are nutrients that were absorbed.
On the outside, of course.
Okay wait one moment.
I just read something .
It looks like it gets transported to the liver, where it is then transported to cells that pass through the liver seeking nutrients.
Thank you. I have to go now. Dinner time.
Alright, good luck on your tests!
Thanks :)
