I need some help with 4.08 Developing your position. I need to know what the opposing side thinks. I'll attach what I have done so far, and if you've done julius casear, please help. I will medal. Thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What side are you on?

OpenStudy (tarantulagirl98):

i think brutus is a patriot because he killed Caesar for a good reason, he was going to ruin Rome. So i need to know what the opposite side may thin, so i can develop my counterclaim.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, I also think Brutus is a patriot. Although Caesar runing Rome was complete speculation and Brutus just wanted to preserve the ideals of the Roman Republic, a nation without a king. Anyways, it could be argued that he is a traitor because he killed his friend through deceptive means. It is actually undeniable that he is a traitor in regards to Caesar because he did betray his trust. It could also be argued that he went against the will of Rome itself, as the Senate was going to crown Caesar as king.

OpenStudy (tarantulagirl98):

So my counterclaim could be... Brutus is a traitor, he betrayed the trust of Caesar, and he gained the trust of rome?? something along those lines?? @SoapyDan

OpenStudy (tarantulagirl98):

ive checked my claim and ive somewhat tired to write the opposite, but i cant seem to pull it all together.

OpenStudy (tarantulagirl98):

*tried

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Half right. He didn't gain the trust of Rome. It could be argued that he went AGAINST Rome, by killing its future king.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When addressing the counterclaim, you just need to refute its points. A little example - "Brutus was a traitor because he betrayed the trust of his friend" ~ "However he did this for the greater good of the Roman Republic, making him a patriot."

OpenStudy (tarantulagirl98):

ok i think im starting to get it now, that makes sense.

OpenStudy (tarantulagirl98):

@SoapyDan thanks for ur help, i appreciate it :D

Glad I could be of use.
