How did U.S. economy and society change after World War II? The nation went through a depression and many people were left unemployed. The stock market fell and many businesses folded, resulting in widespread poverty. The economy expanded and more people had money to spend on luxuries. The economy improved but only wealthy people could afford luxuries.

Before World War II, the US was hit by the Great Depression, which was caused by the Stock Market collapse in 1929. The depression lasted until 1942, when the US declared war on Japan. In fact, the US's economy actually improved while the US was in the war. Can you figure out the answer from here?

The nation went through a depression and many people were left unemployed. is this the answer @ImaGuest

That did happen, but that is not the answer. That happened before the US joined World War II, AKA declaring war on Japan causing Germany to declare war on the US. The Stock Market did fall, but that was 10 years before World War II started. That just leaves C and D, which one do you think it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, the answer is D. The economy improved when the US entered the war, but it did not solve the economic crisis going on in the US.
