Which of the sentences below is written correctly? The youngest boy of seven children are going into the sixth grade. My parents or I are helping at the fair to raise money for the city. The parents of the troublemaker was upset when the school called. The tall boy with the boots eats two school lunches each day.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Which one do you believe is correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this one is confusuing

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Okay, it's all about the tenses and whether the subject is singular or plural.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

For sentence one: "The young boy" indicates a singular subject, because it is one boy. The word "are" is used for multiple subjects, making this sentence incorrect.

may you hury my session about to expire

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A is wrong because it's supposed to be "is" instead of "are" B does not make sense. C is wrong because it's supposed to say "were" instead of "was" so I would go with D

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Right... Was gonna go into each with more detail, but overall, Brianna is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thsnk you alot @Whitemonsterbunny17

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

You're welcome. ^.^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks to you to @BriannaBear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Np :)

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Do you understand why the wrong ones are wrong, though?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Btw, @BriannaBear, next time explain each with more detail and let the user figure out which one is incorrect themself.... Technically what you posted would be counted as giving a direct answer because you did state which one was correct. I'm not reporting you this time, but be more careful for future reference, I don't want you to get in trouble for such a silly thing.
