PLEASE HELP Find the measure of angle y. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth. (please type the numerical answer only) A right triangle is shown with one leg measuring 7 and the hypotenuse is labeled 12. An angle that is not 90 degrees is marked y.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

@Hero

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

@dan815

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It depends on what side the angle y is opposite to.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

I think the opisite it is to is the opposite not the hypotense its a right triangle and y is connected to hypotense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Clearly. But is it opposite to the side with length 7 or the side with unknown length?

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

y is connected to the hypotense, and the adjecent

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

opposite to side 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would the triangle look like this?|dw:1431646816216:dw|

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

yes! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, we're just gonna use the property of sin for this then. Do you know what sin is? Might want to refer to sohcahtoa

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

sin = opposite over hypotense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Exactly. So sin in this case would be what?

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

7/12

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

@LegendarySadist now what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so now you have two steps left. First is to convert this to decimal form. Use a calculator for that.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

.583333333333333

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

@LegendarySadist next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now we just apply the asin to find the angle sin right now we have the sin of the angle. So asin(.583) would be the answer. Calculate that in a calculator

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

0.622416255 rad?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do it in degrees, you're finding the angle of it so they probably want degrees.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

has to be a decimal rounded to nearest 100th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

0.62 I don't think the angle is that small...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BRUH YOU ARE IN RADIANS MODE, SWITCH TO DEGREE MODE

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

idk how >_< can you do it XD im in computer weird google calculator mode

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use this site http://web2.0calc.com/ The degree and radian modes are in the bottom left corner of the calculator

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

ugh I don't get it it wont give me answer -_-

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

Im unexperienced with trig I just started

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just put "asin(.583)" in the bar of the site I gave you and make sure you are in degree mode.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

0.583 again? that transalates to 0.58 that's smaller then 0.62. the angle cant be that small

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

hello? @LegendarySadist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ASIN(.583) PUT IN ASIN*(.583) THIS IS NOT HARD JUST ENTER IT IN THE CALCULATOR ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ENTER "ASIN(.583333333) IN THE CALCULATOR

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

wont tell me answer >_<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it will. We aren't even doing math anymore, we're literally just putting "asin(.583) into the calculator. Just copy/paste what I have in the quotations: "asin(.58333333333333)"

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

I did it did nothing under it says 360 degrees, but I know that wrong angles only stretch to 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I can't help you. I have guided you through the problem and I am not a calculator guide. If you don't know how to operate a calculator I have no idea how you made it to trig.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

im in 8th grade I shouldn't be in trig )::

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

@LegendarySadist it doesn't work and my ipads super slow.......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you not own a calculator?

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

im at my dad friends house who doesn't

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

we are staying for a week

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

@LegendarySadist come on its just a calc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you knew you were going to do math, you should have brought one. And the website I provided you works fine.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

it was super glitch and wouldn't type well and load

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

lol your even a "human calculator" ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well it is solve-able without a calculator, but it would be a ton of work.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

come ooooon why cant you halp meh. plz I don't have much time im missing my Netflix watching....

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

Just be decent Ill fan u and medal of course @LegendarySadist but I don't think your a bribe type -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have skype? I can show it to you on there. If not, you'll have to get your calculator going.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

I cant Skype strangers ): idk ur age idk if ur a boy or girl (im a girl). And I don't have Skype, and I think you already know the answer ;p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well then you'll have to get the ol' calculator working.

OpenStudy (calvinnivlac):

I doubt they will help me but if they do :p @amistre64 help @AriPotta help @adrynicoleb help @Awolflover1 help @A_clan help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could also put in \[asin(\frac{ 7 }{ 12 })\] btw
