I just got a good explanation from a fellow user and would like to inquire more about it. I asked him why he helped on a post that was asking for people to check his/her work. The problem is, the work posted was a test. Is it ok for people to check the work, because no one helped on the actual test itself?
I dont think so....tests are meant to test the persons knowlage not ours. IF they get something wrong they can come here to review it
Test are tests. Even checking the work could be violating the rules. It could still be seen as help. If the person got one wrong then that's his/her fault. Checking the work basically means changing the users score on the test which is help. And help on tests is cheating.
So everyone just said it was correct and left?
I don't know.
It was deleted.

hi do you still need feed back ?
Sure! This post was made for the feedback of others. :)
depends on the context of a test. if a test is take home and open notes ... then getting help seems implied. if its closed book and no talking ... no help is implied.
a few schools have declared that this site is off limit on quizes and test, we respect those schools and moderate accordingly to the best of our abilities. Other schools must rely upon the honor of thier students ...
ok hold on
But I guarantee that test questions come through here everyday. What do we do when we notice them?
The key is in the wording of the policy, "By using the OpenStudy Site or Service, you agree to abide by OpenStudy’s Anti-cheating Policy and to also comply with copyright laws and the academic policies or honor codes of your school and course, and to report violations promptly to us." That means anything that your school says is a no-no is also one on OS. Most schools have a clear policy of independent work even on take home tests, so checking answers is not OK. Additionally is it very clear there that when you see something that you know is a test question, you report it. That is part of what people have agreed to do when they use the site. Additionally they clarify with, "Posting questions from tests, exams or other third party content may be an infringement of copyrights of the owner of the posted content. In most cases, asking for help on an exam or test, or helping someone during their test or exam, will be considered cheating by the institution or by OpenStudy. OpenStudy reserves the right to remove such content and/or suspend, ban or otherwise remove Users from the system who are suspected of cheating." This means that even if the school does not say it is cheating, you can still be suspended from OS, have the question deleted, etc. This is because OS wants to err on the side of caution when it comes to tests, quizzes, assessments, and other forms of examinations.
Thanks! I will keep what you all said in mind.
