Evaluate the expression by using the given values of the variables. y ÷ 3 • 2 – 8 ÷ x + 5 where x = 4 and y = 12 A. 11 B. 5 C. 21 D. 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simply switch the values of x and y with the x's and y's on the expression then follow PEMDAS

OpenStudy (liciagrl911):

???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x is equals to 4 and y is equals to 12. Switch the x's by the number 4 and y's by the number 12 on the expression.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y \div 3 * 2 - 8 \div x + 5\]

OpenStudy (liciagrl911):

I'm kind of dumb is there a different way you could explain it to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Example: Lets say the expression is x+2-y and x=1 , y=3 What that means is since x is =1 and y=3 then x+2-y would be 1 + 2 - 3 which equals to 0

OpenStudy (liciagrl911):

I'm sorry I still don't get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets say.. if x=2 <-- meaning that x is 2 then that means that any x you see will be always 2. If y = 3 <-- then that means that all the y's you see are equal to 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example: The expression is x+y and x=1, y=2 Then that means 1+2
