Hello, Need help!! Do anyone read a article about the understanding Sin Today

OpenStudy (kenljw):

In 12 step programs use character defect instead of sin and entity instead of spirit. Generally I think this is used to somehow separate their programs from any one relligion. You can't really expect to teach a starving person anything, one must first feed them and give them some semblance of physical health before your able to feed their mind and spiirit. Life has always been somewhat difficult for some and they fall into various traps and may need help in extricating themselves. We used to confine the mentally ill in instution, but in the 60's psychity started to developing medication to help, in the mid 70's halfway houses came into existince for them and with treatment some where able to live on their own. The majority of homeless are mentally ill who refuse medication which is required for most private and governmental help. Drug addiction halfway houses also came into existence to help those who want to get of the drugs and today courts mandate certain people who commit certain crimes to these houses for a period of time. This is considered more human than placing them into prison, but with futhre offences they may end up there. Sin still exist and it ensnare you as stated in Genensis chapter 4 verse 6 and 7.

@KenLJW I am talking about this article

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Do any read this article

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Who can help me with some question

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

@KenLJW are you able o help or na

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Yes I read it, I was raised in the Church in the Lantin mass during the 50's and 60's, I went to catechism and bearly learned the ten commandments. The first time I read the Bible I was 20 years old and recognized many of the things I had done wrong but I was still ensnared. I always went back to scriptures over the last 45 years and I have been blessed by having many of my sinful obsessions removed. I don't agree with mixing philosophy and religion, I tried to read Thomas Aquins but he seems to see thing throuh the eye of a philisopher, specifically ancient Greek. Many religions do that today do the same as Jews use the Talmud to understand scriptures. The principle of confession is an old one in the Church and was brought about because the Laity was illiterate and confessed to things they come to understand being wrong. In my life I've decided this learn as you go way of religion did not serve me and wish I had read the Torah, Pentateuch before puberty as the Jews do. I'm not sure it would of made a difference but I think it would. There's a difference between living under the law and living within it, one seems to be oppessive while the other is freedom. When one's nature is changed toward living with in the law then one has salvation. Even in the secuar world there are those who feel oppessed by the legal system and try to break free either ending up in the underground or prison, where many have no problem with it and live well within it. Sin basically ensnare a person and it leads to no good for themselves or others. Mortal sin is basically what was dealt with in the Torah with death, community stoning, while venial sin meant being unclean, not suitable for contact, for some period of time. This article doesn't go into this because the Church assume the Laity ignorance of the Old Testament and reserves the right to interpret it.

OpenStudy (causticsyndicalist):

Alright. Hold on just a minute.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

Father Gula writes that the former understanding of sin was as if one were committing a crime. Now, he says that, “Catholic theology has since come to realize that the legal model for understanding the moral life and sin is deficient.” Explain in a 3-5 sentence paragraph why he now says it is considered deficient.

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

ok

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

@KenLJW I want a serious answer not like the previous one

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

You just talk about ur storys stuff but I don't want to listen that

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Deficient is defined "lacking something neccessary", with this definition one can see you can't remove sin and have a moral life usless something is removed or added so that a person can be moral. This somewhat removes pesonal responsibilty until what's lacking is given. Traditionally in the Church the age of reason is 7 years old, when they have their first communion, this may have to be reconsider under this rational.

Fr.Gula says that,"Catholic theology has since cone to realize that the legal mode for understanding the moral life and sin is deficient. He considers it to be deficient because the demands of being a faithful follower of Jesus,of living accourding to the vision and values of the gospel, stretch us farther than what we can be prescribed as law.He is not saying we an live without laws,he is saying that the laws can't cover all of the descions that we make.Laws don't address the heart, like our intentions, our way of seeing things,or our attitudes.Jesus reminds us that what comes from the heart is what makes one sinful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope it helps!!

OpenStudy (mtalhahassan2):

I just wrote this So basically I would say according to the Father Gula, the remedy to all sin be like the traditional sin is a degree of gravity of personal sins which are called mortal and venial.8. So basically I would say according to the Father Gula, the remedy to all sin be like the traditional sin is a degree of gravity of personal sins which are called mortal and venial.

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

this might help you "When we become aware of structural evils, we should not be paralyzed by the guilt of self-condemnation, but moved to conversion. Conversion from social sin involves, at one level, changing our own lifestyle in ways that will help reform society"
