need help finishing a SIMPLE math problem!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my instructions say to find the intersection points. im a little stuck after this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@TheSmartOne can you help refresh my memory on what to do now? is it no solution or is it only no solution when you get 0=0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi Sammy, how are you? Since we have an equation with x^2 and y^2, that means they will have two roots.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what you currently have for the answer is almost right. Just factor out an "x" so it looks like (10x-30)x = 0 you can then break it up into two answers that equal zero. x = 0 10x-30=0 once you solve that, plug it in the original equation to find the two answers for y. You will then have the coordinates of where the line intersects with the circle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome, thank you! i will report back with what i get for my coordinates if you wouldnt mind double checking them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure, no problem at all sammy. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so i got (0,-5) and (3, 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup yup! thats correct. Heres a graph of what it looks like! http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D3x-5%2C%20x%5E2%2By%5E2%3D25&t=crmtb01
