Can you help me out real quick? Bad with slopes. Write the slope-intercept form of the equation of the line which passes through the points (1, 6) and (2, 9). a y = 2x + 3 b y = 3x + 3 c y = 6x + 9 d y = 3x + 6

For questions like these, you can always just use the answer choices to figure out which one is correct! Take the points you are given and plug them in for x and y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like option a. y=2x+3. plug in (1,6) for x and y. 6=2(1)+3. what do you get when you simplify that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I plug things in? o: Sorry my math is very messed up from moving around a lot.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know how (x,y)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay good. so the equation y=2x+3 is saying that whatever 2x+3 is, it will equal y. make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equal sign tells you that whatever is on either end, they should be the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are given points (1,6) and (2,9) and to solve this, you can take those points and put them in place of x and y in the equations you are given in your option choices..does that make more sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its so much simpler than it sounds! hah i promise
