A titration has reached its equivalence point when: the indicator changes color the moles of acid = the moles of base the burette has been emptied adding more acid or more base will no longer change the pH of the solution

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

I don't think the question is worded very well. The equivalence point is where the acid and base react at molar ratios in the balanced reaction. That is where the moles of acid=moles of base if the reaction molar ratios are 1:1.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

The reaction should change color at the equivalence point, but that will only happen if you have picked an indicator with the perfect pKa.

thank youu!!!

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

I'm glad those musings answered your question. :-)

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Which one were they looking for? Just curious...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the one you said :)

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Ok :-)
