In the Arctic Ocean, there are very few large aquatic plants. Which of the following best explains why? A) Sea ice decreases the salinity of the water to a level not suitable for plants. b)Plants have a difficult time surviving due to long periods of darkness. c)Plants are unable to attach to the deep sea floor. d)Currents are too strong for plants to survive.
B is wrong. There are some plants that can survive long periods of darkness. I wouldn't say C is right either. Take seaweed for example. It is kind of a plant, (I do not remember), but itt does attack itself to the sea floor. Not sure about A, could be right, but best chance would be D.
wouldn't the temperature of the water impact plant growth? I would also assume that ice build up would prevent sunlight from reaching plants
