Sketch one cycle of the cosine function y=2 cos 2 theta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dan815 can you help me with this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you what the basic cos x function looks like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@peachpi How does this vary from the basic cos function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*cos x

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Can you put the values of 2cos(2*0), 2cos(2*pi/4), and 2cos(2*pi/2) on a graph for me ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first value is 2, the second is 0, and the third is -2, I'm not sure how to put those on a graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like I mean I understand how to graph them, but where would they land on the x axis?

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Well your function is y=2cos(2*theta) So the x axis will be in our case the theta axis. For theta=0 , y=2 For theta=pi/4, y=0 and so on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! I think I understand it

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Anytime, and if you still have any question you can still ask :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you :) I might have a few more in the next little bit that confuse me (homework omgosh)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can I just tag you in them?

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Sure !
