For this assessment you must demonstrate your understanding of argumentative writing by creating an outline for your essay. Use the Outline Planning Guide to complete this assignment. Submit your outline to your instructor for feedback before moving on to writing your argument. Remember! Your outline must respond to the following prompt: Was Brutus a betrayer or a patriot? This information is part of your argumentative writing project for this unit. Your work will be graded according to the following Outline Your Argument Grading Rubric.

oh okay thanks @kimberlyevens
Okay I have never read the book... But... Have you?
yes but I'm having a hard time doing it.
@freckles
Otey for the first part.. It says Introduce the topic of your argument, your claim, and the counterclaims. Do you know what to do for that part?
well i just put the topic of the argument thats it.
Hmm?? I guess.
yeah
Otey for the next part. Do you know what counterclaims are?
the opposite of counterclaims are claims
Otey... So you have four counter points.. You need to have a paragraph for each.
okay but i don't have those counterpoints
This is why the first part which you said is just your topic is supposed to come in handy... Just writing the topic isnt a real claim. If you have a claim you get a counterpoint. No?
yes but i dont get it
Hmm... Let me give you mines as an example.
okay
This is my claim.. Books should be banned because books aren’t just banned without reason, they are banned for the sake of others.
This is my counter claim... Books should be banned because books aren’t just banned without reason, they are banned for the sake of others but some may say books are knowledge, why would we banned knowledge from others.
okay so now what?
?
hello?
i brb
ok
Use what I gave you as an example.
okay umm
I'm really confused
@Tootles143
? i really need to hurry
What are you confused about?
i don't know how to write it about the story. Can you give an example about why Brutus was a patriot or a betrayer?
I havent rread the story... if you read it it wouldnt be that hard. No?
yeah I'm just confused about that.
Idk how to help cause I have never read the story. What is the topic you are choosing?
That brutus was not the soul betrayer of Caesar
@Tootles143
Otey... All you need to do is write a reason why you think that.
While it may seem that Brutus is a betrayer in the sense that he did help in the murder of Caesar, if it weren’t for Cassius sending those fake letters and telling lies about Caesar, Brutus may never have actually participated in the actual act. I’m not saying that if you believe someone doesn’t have right to rule you should kill them, but in Brutus’ case he honestly believed that since so many people loved Caesar, if he didn’t kill him all of Rome would suffer. In his speech to the people Brutus says “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men? As Caesar loved me, I weep for him; as he was fortunate, I rejoice at it; as he was valiant, I honor him: but, as he was ambitious, I slew him.” This shows his mixed emotions about the situation. In my personal belief I think the answer would have to be Brutus was a betrayer. Whether or not Brutus felt so strongly about his reasoning to try and save Rome, the murder should never have happened. I’m positive that Brutus could’ve found some other non- harming way for Caesar not to become king.
this was the introduction i wrote
Well a claim is just a sentence. XP
oh
cause he was not the person to come up with killing Caesar
@Tootles143
@Tootles143 please help me i really need to get this done!
please help!!!
Right after Caesar was killed, Brutus and Antony give a speech. In these speeches, I would agree that Brutus is a betrayer and Antony is a patriot. Brutus' speech seemed a little fake and short- almost as if he was glad Caesar was dead. Brutus also states that the people should believe in him for killing Caesar and that all the honor goes to himself. Antony, on the other hand, gives a much more realistic/ heart-feeling speech that doesn't focus the attention on just Caesar, but also the man who killed Caesar-Brutus.
how about his i just wrote?
?
@Tootles143 ?
what do you think?
Whatz that for?
