Can someone help me?
i can t see the link a you copy and past and post
Ok, one sec.
A cone has a diameter of 16 in. and a slant height of 17 in. What is the approximate volume of the cone? Use 3.14 to approximate the value of straight pi. Round your answer to the nearest tenth, if necessary. (Hint: V =1/3 pi r squared h A. 1004.8 in3 B. 1138.8 in3 C. 1259.3 in3 D. 4019.2 in3
i think it D
@cvliboi Can you help me on this?
diameter = 16 so what will be radius = r = .. ?
Wouldn't I just have to divide 16 by two? Wouldn't the radius be 8?
yesss r= 8 h =17 you have the formula, just plug the values in!
just a sec, its slant height l = 17 we need to find the value of 'h' using pythagoras theorem first :)
|dw:1432752080994:dw| do you know pythagoras theorem ?
Yeah
so can you tell me the value of h ?
I'm confused. If we're talking about the Pythagoras Theorem, shouldn't I so 17*17 and 8*8? If so, then 17*17=289 and 8*8=64 and then added together it would be 353...
the hypotenuse is 17 :) so 17^2 = 8^2 + h^2 so to get h^2, you'll infact subtract those 2 values, not add them
Oh, so then it would be 289-64=225?
thats right :) h^2 = 225 so h= .. ?
50625
Wait...I don't think I did that right..
h = 225 h = sqrt 225 = ... ?
15
correct! h = 15 r = 8 just plug these in the formula given :)
