What kind of energy is stored in a flashlight battery enabling it to function? electrical energy, chemical energy, mechanical energy, or gravitational energy ? :/

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

it is the chemical energy, since each battery is a chemical source of electric energy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

think about the so called Daniell cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is that ?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

which is used in electrochemistry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

substantially a chemical cell, is a reactor which contains a solution of some acid, and two electrodes. Those electrodes are separated, inside the reactor, by a porous septum, which permits to the ion inside the cell to go from one electrode to another one. Externally, to the reactor there is a wire, and into that wire a current of electrons flow from one electrode to the other one, like this: |dw:1433101872932:dw|
