What is the maximum distance we can shoot a dart, provided our toy dart gun gives a maximum initial velocity of 5.80 m/s? the answer is 1.16m I just don't know why?!!!? help please!

The max distance is the v^2/g where v is the initial velocity and g is the acceleration due to gravity. I dont get 1.16 m?

It depends on how you're throwing the dart, are you projecting it with an angle made with the horizon or are u projecting it horizontally?or u just shooting it vertically down from a cliff? When projected with an angle \[\theta\] with the horizontal, the distance is given by \[R=\frac{u^2\sin(2\theta)}{g}\]

You're right he doesn't specify so I made a few assumptions. Throwing at 45 deg to the horizontal at the ground gives max range.
